A Huge Thanks from Wally, the Starving Puppy who Ate Rocks

Wally, a black and white boxer blend, looking fit and healthy and ready for adoption.

Meet Wally

This sweet boy was all alone, starving and emaciated, and wandered into a Walmart looking for help from humans. He weighed just 29 pounds. Some special animal advocates took him in and worked tirelessly to find him a rescue partner that would help bring him back to good health and find him a great home.

That is where The Animal League came in. Upon entering into our care, we got Wally the best medical attention available. It was found that this sweet boy was so hungry he had resorted to eating plastic and rocks….yes ROCKS. His belly was full of them. Fortunately, Wally was able to pass all of the rocks on his own without surgery and is eating anything he wants. He has gained 16 pounds and is eating like a champ and learning what it is to never be without food. He is a good boy with a lot of puppy energy and is ready to see the world! He loves to go for walks and run and play in the yard.

Good Morning Hoomans!
Here’s a widdle collage I made of me and some of my newest friends.

I have LOTS of other friends too, just no pictures yet!

I just have ONE more thing I want to say, then I’ll be busy eating a lot. I want to thank ALL you hoomans. I know you don’t have time to read a lot of words but, if you can, please try to read to the end. Ok here I go…

There were the nice people at Walmart who let me in the store (that’s why my name’s Wally), then Miss Michelle and Miss Beth who came runnin’ to help when they heard about me being all skinny and sick, the nice people who helped Michelle raise funds for my first vet visit, my first foster mommy Tammy Lyn who took me in while they looked for a rescue to help me, Miss Doreen at The Animal League who’s heart finds it about impossible to say no, Angela and Sharon who drove me everywhere I needed to be and stuck by my side, all the great medical people, Dr Harrell and his team at Valdosta Animal Hospital, Dr. Herbert Daniel and everyone at Advanced Veterinary Care in Orlando, and Dr Tatiana Da Silva and her Team at All 4 Pets Emergency Hospital in Ocoee, AND, importantly, all of YOU right here who pitched in to pay my medical bills and sent hearts, prayers and SHARES to take care of me! I can’t believe I have over 20,000 friends when I only had zero before!

Not only did you save me but you gave me and friends at The Animal League something really, really important….. hope. I thought life was forever and ever going to be walking cold, alone and scared with a pain inside my belly. And I sort of know that the world has been hard for everyone lately – critters and hoomans both but, now I believe that things are going to get better. I’m NOT worthless like I thought…

……it WASN’T that I was unloved, it was just that you didn’t KNOW I existed, and that I NEEDED your love!

A big sloppy kiss, a snuggle and a snort to you.
Your Friend ForEVER,
Wally

PS Keep reading just a widdle more from one of my life-savers, Miss Doreen!

Dear Friends, thank you for reading Wally’s story and helping him. He is super sweet. Wally loves to lean in to you and put his jowly face on your lap. Any donations that might remain after Wally’s continued care will be restricted to The Animal League’s Sunshine Fund. This is a fund set aside to pay the medical bills of the critically abused and neglected pets we rescue. At this very moment we are coordinating receiving dogs in medical need from a hoarding case. More on that another time….

Thank you SO much for caring. We truly can’t save them without you.

Gratefully yours, Doreen Barker
Director, The Animal League

Hi friends! It’s me, Wally, again.
I was going to tell you a little more about how it’s going over here at the Foster house but I’m a little busy right now! I’ll talk to you again later. I think this darn dish has wheels!

Whilst I’m busy, you can take a look at these photos showing my progress over the five months since I arrived at The Animal League. You might like to check out some more of The Animal League’s Sunshine Fund rescue stories too.
